This week I wanted to share something that moved me, almost to tears.
Okay, I got teared up — but they were MANLY tears — promise.
We have a wonderful person in our community who has become a dear friend to me. RiverFang has been a supporter for years. She’s been a shining light to me when I was down, overwhelmed, and often when I needed a voice of reason. She’s also backed me when no one else did.
Thank you, RiverFang. I would say you’re a first class human being, but I don’t want to degrade my opinion of you.
She also has an amazing mom.
...and I was surprised to find out that 'mom' read my books, including the ones I unpublished in 2022.
Ya know, River…this would have been less awkward if I knew your mom’s actual name…but I’m already here, so I’m going for it, anyway.
‘Mom’ it is.
Hey, Mom.
If you didn't know, I write and create more than what you see on Life of Fiction. Mainly for younger kids, because I still have little ones at home and a small country of grandchildren. Combine that with my unquenchable desire to be the “cool” grandpa, I like to make things for my clan. Books, coloring books, shirts, posters, bracelets, games, all in the efforts to get my kids to know they are the joy of my existence.
For Christmas 2023, I worked on a coloring book based on baby dragons, which I showed back in November. When I was done, we purchased 100 of them. Some to sell, most to give away to my loved ones.
It was a hit. A BIG hit.
Now, little kids love coloring. My Ruby (4 yrs old) and Roman (9 yrs old) are still coming to me and showing what they’ve named the babies. I personally love coloring as well. My married kids already have collaboration plans to make more complex coloring books with me for this year…but I digress.
What I wasn't prepared for were other adults like me also enjoy the coloring book.
Mom apparently enjoyed it. RiverFang sent me pictures.
Thank you for this.
I’m so delighted that you are having fun with the coloring book, mom.
So,…what did you get YOUR mom for Christmas, eh?
Would you like to vote on what kind of coloring book should I make for this year?
Knew you would.
Mom’s vote counts as 10, BTW.
…cause she’s mom, that’s why.
Oh, stop whining and vote.
In fact, get YOUR mom to vote.
