*Special shout out to Joseph Vickery and
for doing our live meetup for breakfast and worldbuilding over The Hero Within TTRPG. You guys are awesome, I’m so glad we got together, and I hope this is just the beginning.Life Of Fiction needs a contest…and I want to do it in a FUN, PLAYFUL way.
Want to win LIFETIME ACCESS to ALL the STORIES, GAMES, ART, VIDEOS, and CREATIONS of this substack?
…AAAAAND Win A SECOND LIFETIME COMP For You To Give Away?
But….what should the contest BE?
Here are several creative challenge ideas for the Life of Fiction community.
These are designed to engage participants, grow the community, with the grand prize of two lifetime paid subscriptions:
1. The "Lost Chapter" Challenge
Participants write a short “lost” chapter or side story set in the Chronicles of a Hero universe, Bloodsticks, Demoni Vankil, or any of the Life of Fiction world settings.
The best entry, judged on creativity, storytelling, and how well it fits the lore, wins.
Could have a “fan favorite” winner chosen by community votes and a winner chosen by a panel.
2. Art & Illustration Challenge
Fans create visual artwork of a character, scene, or event from the books.
This can include traditional/digital art, comics, or even character concept sketches.
Bonus points for original interpretations or previously unseen angles of existing characters.
3. "Become the Hero" Video Challenge
Participants create a short video (1-3 minutes) where they either:
Reenact a scene from Chronicles of a Hero.
Explain why they would be a great hero in this world.
Pitch an original character who would fit into the world.
Engaging, fun, and perfect for growing the community via social media.
4. The Bloodsticks Tournament
Create a community-driven online version of Bloodsticks (as described in the book). We would have to do this in The Fiction HUB.
Participants play a text-based or tabletop-style version of the game in rounds.
The ultimate survivor wins the grand prize.
Bonus points if the game mechanics are developed into a functional mini-game.
5. "Write Your Own Destiny" Character Challenge
Participants create and submit a detailed original character that would fit into the Wanted Hero universe.
Submissions include:
Name, race, backstory, skills, and motivations.
A short scene featuring them in action.
Best entry could have their character canonized in an upcoming short story or mentioned in official lore!
6. The Great Wanted Hero Lore Hunt
Create a scavenger hunt where players must find answers to deep lore questions about the books.
Clues hidden in excerpts, website pages, and fan discussions.
Whoever completes the hunt first (or most accurately) wins.
7. Ultimate Meme War
Fun and easy: fans create memes, comics, or humorous content inspired by the Chronicles of a Hero series.
The most liked or shared memes win!
8. Live Roleplay Challenge
Set up a Fiction HUB roleplaying event where players assume the roles of heroes, villains, and side characters.
Give them an original scenario where they must work together (or against each other).
The best performance (as voted on by judges or the community) wins.
9. Fictional Journal Entry Challenge
Participants write a short journal entry as if they were a character in the world of Wanted Hero.
They must describe a pivotal event from the character’s perspective.
The best, most immersive entry wins!
Vote on your favorite Ideas 1-9.
What Ideas Do YOU Have? Tell me in the comments!
That’s it. That’s all I’ve got today.
Go be awesome.
Go be YOU.
…cause that’s the natural form of awesome the world needs!
ALWAYS remember:
You are MORE than you THINK you are!
Until Next Time,
