Morning Coffee 51: Christmas Early...and prepping for my trip to MO!

How do you guys know when I'm about to run out of things!???

I’m taking you on a bit of a rollercoaster ride through what’s been happening recently.

I’ve got a big trip coming up—heading to Missouri for my sister’s wedding—and it’s the first time my wife and I are going on vacation without the kids.

I’m excited but also dealing with the recent loss of one of my dearest friends, which has me reflecting on being the last grandparent and father-in-law in my family.

But it’s not all heavy stuff—I’ve got some incredible, heartwarming stories to share about the kindness you all continue to show me.

Your thoughtful gifts always arrive at the perfect time.

The microwave version:

  • Reflecting on Fear and Growth:
I start off talking about a personal journey, facing fears I used to have and how, with a little help, I learned to stand tall and push forward. It’s a good reminder that life isn't always as scary as we think.

  • Wedding Road Trip:
I'm gearing up for a road trip to Missouri for my sister's wedding, and here’s the kicker—my wife and I are going without the kids for the first time…ever. People keep teasing us, asking if we’ll even like each other without the kids around. Spoiler alert: we will!

  • Dealing with Loss and Family Reflections:
I also open up about losing one of my close friends this week. That hit hard. It’s made me realize I’m now the last grandparent and father-in-law in the family. I don’t know if it’s true that life starts taking more than it gives when you hit 50, but it sure feels like it sometimes.

  • Life’s Highs and Lows:
Life has a funny way of balancing out the highs and lows. I’m feeling the loss, but I’m also finding joy in the little things. It’s all about keeping a steady hand, even when it feels like things are slipping away.

  • Your Generosity and Perfect Timing:
This part always gets me—you all are just amazing. The timing of your gifts just blows my mind, which always seem to show up right when I need them most. I opened a package last night, and once again, I was blown away by your kindness. Seriously, I can’t thank you enough.

  • Plans for the Future:
Before I sign off, I talk about what’s coming up—don’t worry, even though I’ll be on the road for almost two weeks, everything’s already scheduled. You won’t miss a thing. And yes, I’ll still do our Monday Coffee, but it might be unedited and straight from my phone. That’ll be interesting, right?

Love you, VERY much.

THANK YOU for the much needed pads AND the headset [I’m still smiling]…both will make a huge difference to my work schedule and productivity.
