Incense.... the reason why frankensense and myrrh were as valuable as gold is because they contain not only antimicrobial properties, but are also mildly anti-depressive and valued as mood boosters especially in winter.
I had no idea. I'm just one of those people who discovered what worked for them and uses it. Love incense. SUCH a variety, and I can get in certain moods within moments....
...oh, then add MUSIC....and I'm off writing all sorts of things.
Huh. Thanks for sharing that, Haly. I find that fascinating!
I use it as a mood booster 24/7/365 when possible (giggles)
There's a reason why almost all religions incorporate both. Smell is the sense most powerfully associated with memory, and when we breathe in the smoke it is a chemical essence that is taken in and can in fact change us in....numerous different ways. Funny what tree sap can do.
Frankincense is a hardened gum-like material that comes from the trunk of the Boswellia tree. People use its oil on the skin and in aromatherapy. Frankincense oil seems to kill some types of bacteria and fungi. It is commonly used as a fragrance in soaps, lotions, and perfumes.
Myrrh is a fragrant, yellow, sap-like resin that comes from the bark of certain Commiphora trees, such as the Commiphora myrrham. It has been used throughout history in medicine, perfumery, and incenses, and is especially popular in China and Egypt.
Dragon's blood is a bright red resin which is obtained from different species of a number of distinct plant genera: Calamus spp. (previously Daemonorops) also including Calamus rotang, Croton, Dracaena and Pterocarpus.
Basically, you harvest it the same way you doo beech gum or pine sap. Bit it's even slower flowing than molasses, most of the good ones.

No.
You cannot just walk by, say "tree sap" and walk away.
That's mean, and my cartoonist brain is now freaking out with imaginations of superpowers, anti-stupid drugs and ways to ward off politicians.
You have my curiosity now.
....please explain.
