A sign that a wonderful goal is NOT a wonderful goal
Can you imagine the emails? The hate mail? Okay, it’s NOT funny, but I laughed.

I know this is out of my normality, but I wanted to share this experience. It made me laugh so hard I just about wet myself.
After I finished Episode 13 of Life of Fiction, the podcast, I went about setting up my morning to write. Once in a while, I take a few minutes and go through substack and read Notes. It’s enjoyable to catch up on what my fellow writers are doing, the ideas they are sharing, and once in a great while I might share something myself.
Scrolling down, I found a recommendation called The 10M Project.
I clicked on the link and found it’s a 10 Million word project. That intrigued me. As I read further, it was an open invitation for fiction writers to join to write 10 million words. The first stage was to hit 1 Million words as a fiction writer. The goals I set for Life of Fiction and Wanted Hero aren’t word based, but this had my curiosity.Â
What would it take for me to write 1 million words with my main series?Â
I found out.Â
I’d like to keep the main series to five books or fewer. 1,000,000 divided by 5 = 200,000 words per book.Â
The average word count for the pages of my books is 300. So I took 200,000 words and divided it by 300 words per page to get the page count for each of the five books.
It was 666.66666666666666667
Now, I’m a man of faith. Can you imagine what would happen if I published an entire series of books with 666 pages each?
