I absolutely loved watching this and getting to know more about you, Jaime—and being introduced to Mr. Wolfe, too! You two are incredible. The way you celebrate each other’s work with such fun banter and genuine admiration is inspiring.

Honestly, I don’t read as much fantasy as I’d like to these days. I used to love it—many moons ago, I was a huge fan of Dungeons and Dragons growing up and devoured The Lord of the Rings series. But as a single mom of two, immersed in mastering my craft and being a lifelong learner (which means reading an endless stream of books in my field), I just haven’t had much time to read purely for pleasure. Not that I don’t love reading for my career, but you two make me want to dive back into the genre. I feel like I’ve missed out on so many incredible stories and experiences, and the passion you both bring to your work is so inspiring that it’s enticing me to carve out some time to reconnect with fantasy.

As for games—yes! This is something I can do with my family. It’s exciting to think about connecting with creators on a personal level too. There’s something so special about knowing the people behind the things you enjoy—it brings a deeper connection to their work. That’s one of the things I love about Substack: we get to know the brilliant minds behind the art. It bridges the gap, letting us see the humanity and energy of the creators, which adds so much more meaning to what they produce.

Before, we’d have to piece together who an author or creator was and try to interpret their intentions through their work. Now, we hear directly from them. It’s such a profound shift. As readers, we can align ourselves with creators whose intentions and perspectives resonate with us, forming a deeper connection with the art itself. It’s truly a beautiful thing.

Thank you for sharing your fun 2x2 conversation! It was truly a pleasure!

Kristie, you are so very welcome! 😊

On reading, I understand where you're coming from. That is another reason I'm a fan of, and write, serial fiction. Small pieces. A chapter at a time that someone with a busy life can pick up and read when they can.

Now... as for missing out on incredible stories? Kristie, those stories you haven't read aren't missed! Nope! Not at all. Every one of them are still there. They're just waiting patiently for you, that's all.

You are also so very right about connecting on that personal level, like with games, but also with the people who make them. Also write the stories. It gives the stories more depth. More meaning. Because we get to see behind that lies a human being who just cares and wants to share that joy they're feeling.

Again, you are very welcome. Getting to read your comment was a pleasure. 😊

You are very amazing, awesome, thank you for taking the time to watch and listen to Jaime and I go on about writing and stories. ❤️

Thank you for joining us, Alison =)

I think this is a fantastic idea and something we will be doing more of, because I've got many writers I'd like to get to know better...

So sorry I missed this live. I have a hard time getting to the keyboard on weekends sometimes...most times. I give the weekends to the wife. But I loved listening to you guys. Great job. I always wonder what kind of answers I would have, and then think, no, you wouldn't be a good choice for this. Anyway, I don't have a phone for the QR thing. I'm on a PC on my desk. And I'm not too tech-savvy, so I have to watch after the fact.

I didn’t get to today’s yet. But it’s just hitting 10:00 am here on the Left Coast…and I have to get cleaned up and dressed for my own reading going out on Sunday. But I’ll fit it in.
